Waking up in your own bed after a month at Elsewhere is quite the surreal experience! Did all of that actually happen? Or did I just dream all that???
In my own bed after a long day of traveling... its so QUIET and PEOPLE-LESS in my apartment... HOW will I adapt to the post-elsewherian condition?
Sunday's are great at Elsewhere for a different type of focus... The Museum is closed, the staff have the day off and the rhythm is different. This morning I shot more video with E-Lies and George finishing off their sections. Then in the afternoon, Sally and Florence organized and led a two hour session for us all at the YMCA, guiding the group through a series of movement exercises and body work that had us rolling around on top of each other on the floor, moving around guided by touching fingertips and other such things! Really interesting, focussed and relaxing in equal measures. After that I had a quick swim and a brief sit in the sauna followed by a much needed shower... Am inputting todays video into FCP as I type this and attempting to fight off the growing sense of panic about leaving Elsewhere the day after tomorrow. So much still to do! I will be so sad to leave this inspiring place and I am realizing just how much I have loved the experience of the communal living. ; - (
Eliza's artists conversation tonight was dreamy great. Praying that all my students in the fall make such fucked-up-fun work. Really fabulous.. kooky, totally her and she pulled it off with great confidence. Proud of my roomie ; - )
Had a blast shooting video all afternoon with George who was a joy to collaborate with.... got all his shots done except for his joint shots with Steph and E-lies... just about to import the results! Couldn't sleep last night, really wanted to keep working on the project and was feeling all jittery and excited to see what we shot (but too scared to come downstairs and work cos of da ghosties...). So stayed up most of the night dipping through Species of Spaces and Other Pieces and thinking about teaching assignments.... these Perec pieces go so well with Bachelard's The Poetics of Space... wonder what else I can find in the same vein... am thinking of making the theme for my fall 'Intro to Intermedia' class something along the lines of 'the architectures we live within'.
Molly left today, David arrived towards the end of last week and Sally and Florence arrived this afternoon. Missing Molly ; - (
